Samuel Lewis' Topographical Dictionary

Samuel Lewis wrote a series of Topographical Dictionaries, covering the British Isles. The following pages are taken from his Topographical Dictionary of Ireland, written in 1837. `

They give a good idea of the history of the area, its geography, and what life was like in pre-famine times around Lough Foyle. I'm not a great one for pages of text, but I've made an exception here, as I hope you'll find it interesting. On some, I've split the original text into paragraphs, to make it easier to read.
