Inishowen Maritime Memorial

Outside the Maritime Museum in Greencastle is a monument to all those from the Inishowen Peninsula who have died at sea.

The inscription reads:

"This monument is in memory of all those from the Inishowen Peninsula who have died at sea.
The adjacent plaques record the names of those who are known to have lost their lives.
It has not been possible to find out the name of every person who has died at sea and any omissions are unintentional.
Further information can be obtained in the Maritime Museum opposite."

The following is a transcription of the plaques covering the years 1831 to 1918
