Denis was the eldest son of John and Anne Crumlish. He was baptised in Moville, Co. Donegal on 24 December 1877

He had eight brothers and sisters: Mary Anne (my grandmother), Margaret, Kathleen, Frances, Theresa, Nora, Evelyn and Charlie.

He followed his father's trade, and joined the family business as a butcher. I don't know a lot about him, apart from the fact that he was idolised by my grandmother, Mary Anne.

Denis died about 1911, from TB.
