John was my grandfather's brother.

He was the son of Thomas and Frances Doherty, who lived at 5 Hawthorn Terrace, Derry.

John was born in Derry about 1880, and went into apprenticeship.

He had three known brothers, Thomas, William and Michael and three sisters, Mary Anne, Ellen and Josephine, together with an unknown sibling.
