The photographs are believed to be of my father's cousins. One may have been called Patrick, and another Robert or Finbar (or possibly Philip, James or John - see below).

If you recognise any of the photos, please get in touch. E-mail me here.

My grandmother, Josephine Loughnan, came from Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. She was a Governess, who spoke fluent french, and was described as "franco-irish" (possibly a reference to her mother's surname, D'Arcy).

When he was young, my father would travel to Enniscorthy to stay with his relatives. He remembered that his cousins were about ten years or so older than him, so that they would have been born about 1890, or so.

We have lost touch with the family, and know nothing about them, except that they might have been connected to the people who ran a small shop called "O'Learys" near the bridge in Enniscorthy.

According to the Genealogical Index maintained by the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter Day Saints there were five children born to James Loughman and Mary D'Arcy in Enniscorthy between 1864 and 1877, excluding Josephine and Margaret (of whose births I have firm evidence). These were:
Ester (1864)
Philip (1866)
James (1868)
John (1871)
Mary (1877)
... but no Patrick or Robert or Finbar.. (possibly the children of one of the above?) !
