Hello, Hello, Hello,
One of Scotland Yard's elite crime busting team, Norman is my brother.
"Palmer of the Yard" was born at St Mary Abbotts Hospital in Kensington, London in 1955, the son of Benjamin Palmer and Gabrielle Doherty. He went to work in Landsberg, Germany when he was sixteen, and this experience fuelled his love of languages, and his desire to travel (.. and a few heroes as well .. Ja, Norman?). He has one brother, me, and one sister, Yvonne
He travelled extensively through Europe, and even hitchhiked as far as Afghanistan. He has been across South America and Australia, and has traversed the United States.
Norman speaks most of the main european languages fluently, and a number of other languages, including Pharsee and Russian, passably. He is currently studying Finnish and Greek as a hobby ( .. Norman - get a life .. !). His next aim is to learn American.
In the Navy ....
Norman served in the Royal Navy, where he rose to become a Chief Petty Officer. He fought for his country for twenty two years .. mostly in quay side bars and night clubs ......
His friends in the Royal Navy said that when he became ( .. shall we say .. ) " .. overtired and emotional .. ", he used to speak to them in Serbo-Croat!!!
But ... let's get serious. .... Norman is a war hero.
He put his life on the line for his country on many occasions. Norman's heroism was recognised by his country with the award of medals for his bravery in the Falklands and the Gulf. Norman was in the first wave of landings in San Carlos Water, where he served on the sister ship of the ill fated RFA Sir Galahad. In the Gulf, Norman served on a minesweeper.
Norman developed a great reputation as a skilled linguist and diplomat. He helped our American friends to integrate into the local community, conducting delicate negotiations with the young ladies of Toulon after the American Fleet arrived in France.
" ... Hey you guys, Norman's got us fifty bucks a f (...amily website) .. "
With the Old Bill ......
Norman now works for the Old Bill*, and lives in Lee, south east London, with his wife Leila. They have two children - Hayley born in 2002, and Andrew Edward, born in 2006.
When not instilling fear into London's underworld, "Palmer of the Yard" can be found relaxing in certain Thames riverside taverns ( .. for security reasons, we can't tell you where .. ).
* If you're not from London, the Old Bill is slang for the Metropolitan Police, the local Police force.

Hayley
Palmer
of the Yard's hero is Corporal Jones, of the BBC TV series "Dads Army".
As his present colleagues, Plod, waded into The Shed after Chelsea lost 2-1 on aggregate to Middlesborough in the relegation play-offs in 1988, truncheoning all before them, "Palmer of the Yard" stood firm, shouting "Don't panic .. don't panic .. "
You stupid boy .. !

Andrew Edward
