The Great White Bay, Stroove, Donegal

When I was a child, I thought that the Great White Bay was a huge expanse of golden sand that stretched for ever and ever ... and that we could explore it for a lifetime ... or at least until the four o'clock Swilly bus back to Derry turned up!

At least I got the colour right! But it seems so small now.... The bay has a distinctive smell of seaweed .. Carrigeen Moss .. and the Atlantic Ocean. Beautiful memories!

It is a Blue Flag beach, meaning that it is one of the cleanest in Europe.
